COMMUNITY EVENT CENTER

UPPER LEVEL

The first floor of the former church features Honkamp Hall, and is now a multi-purpose space for events, community building, and arts/culture that can be rented by the public.

LOWER LEVEL

The ground floor of the former church has been renovated to the BVM Community Center — including spaces for rent, a culinary kitchen, and space for hands-on education and certificate programs.

MARITA THEISEN CHILDCARE CENTER

Opened in August of 2019, the former rectory has been transformed into a world-class childcare center that is critically needed for downtown Dubuque families.

Steeple Square Courtyard

COURTYARD

Campus greenspace has been expanded to offer a beautiful outdoor space with unique amenities and a playscape for the community to enjoy.

MARIA HOUSE

Maria House, a shelter for homeless women and their children, opened in 2000 in the former St. Mary’s Convent. Maria House is one of the doorways of local nonprofit, Opening Doors.

FRANCIS APARTMENTS

In 2017, Steeple Square transformed the former school into affordable apartments. More than half serve as permanent supportive housing for Opening Doors graduates while the remainder are available to the public.
